Description
EPSOM, NH — Firefighters around the capital region have been kept busy with two huge fires in communities east of Concord.
At just before noon, numerous firefighters were sent to Route 4-Dover Road for a building fire.
The fire was reported at Dave Kingston's Karts of Epping and Epsom. The fire started in the building spread to carts and brush around the property. There were reports of flames of 30 to 40 feet in the air at one point.
The fire eventually went to three alarms around 12:30 p.m. Along with Epsom firefighters, Allenstown, Barnstead, Boscawen, Chichester, Concord, Hooksett, Loudon, Northwood, Pembroke, and Pittsfield firefighters all responded to assist or for mutual aid.
At one point, part of Route 4 was closed to traffic but reopened around 3 p.m. Epsom firefighters are still on the scene investigating the fire, according to dispatch.
At around 2:45 p.m., firefighters were sent to Riverview Lane in Loudon for a report of a brush fire.
Along with Loudon and Concord firefighters, Boscawen, Bow, Chichester, and Pittsfield forestry units and tankers were requested to assist. According to a post on Twitter, a "power company distribution system" was involved. Neither Eversource nor Unitil, which both serve the community of Loudon, are reporting outages.
The fire is still being fought at post time.
