Dig For Human Remains, Evidence May Go Through Weekend: Police

NORTHBROOK, IL — The digging at a Northbrook residence continued Wednesday as police explore a possible lead in a missing person case from nearly 40 years ago. For the second straight day, Northbrook police and the North Regional Major Crimes Task Force Investigative Cold Case unit searched for evidence and human remains at a home in the 1400 block of Orchard Lane. The home was once owned by Linda H. Seymour, who went missing in the winter of 1982 without a trace. Her husband, James Seymour Sr., lived at the home until his death in 2009, according to public records. A son of the missing woman currently lives in the home. Police said late Wednesday that work may continue into the weekend "due to the level of detail necessary for this operation coupled with some soil condition challenges. " The NORTAF Forensic Team will return Thursday morning to continue their efforts, according to a news release. The Village of Northbrook and Northbrook Police Department said they are appreciative of the patience and respect shown to the residents of the 1400 block of Orchard Lane and ask all to be mindful of those who reside there. Seymour, who was 35 at the time she went missing, was last seen at around 2 p.m. Dec. 21, 1982 in Northbrook, according to The Charley Project. She has never been seen or heard from again.
