HARRISBURG, PA — A state House committee has approved changes to permanently adhere to pandemic-related changes to the state's medical marijuana law.
The House health committee voted to make permanent the current practices of dispensing medical marijuana via curbside pickups and permitting three-month supplies, rather than 30 days, to be dispensed at one time.
The measure now goes to the full House for consideration.
The state Health Department permitted the temporary changes under Gov. Tom Wolf's coronavirus disaster emergency declaration. Voters last week approved a change in the state constitution that such declarations can't continue for more than three weeks unless the Legislature agrees.
The health committee also added a provision that would loosen the rules under which contaminants in medical marijuana necessitate it to be destroyed. The bill would allow suppliers to remediate contamination and dispense the product if an independent lab concludes the remediation effort was successful.
