LEMONT, IL — At its Monday board meeting, the Lemont Village Board awarded a contract for its 2021 Motor Fuel Tax and Rebuilding Illinois bond fund street resurfacing program. The contract was awarded to K-Five Construction Corporation, at a cost of $952,562.67, which came in $267,700.48 under budget, according to board documents. The program includes work of street surface removal and resurfacing, patches, curb and gutter removal and replacement, and pavement marking installation, board documents state. 2.37 miles of road will be resurfaced with this project. The project is funded by three different funds, Public Works Director Ralph Pukula said during Monday's meeting. $275,000 will come from Motor Fuel Tax funds, $500,000 will come from Rebuild Illinois bond funds, and $177,562.67 will come from the village's infrastructure fund. "We will be resurfacing McCarthy Pointe, the whole subdivision, as well as Old Derby subdivision," Pukula said. "The work should begin probably at the end of June and probably last 35-40 days." Pukula said there were eight bidders for the project, and they received a "great price." "We're going to get a lot of paving done this year," Pukula said. "It's going to be busy over in that area with the McCarthy Road project going on right now."
