Crews Contain 3 Vegetation Fires In Sonoma County

SONOMA COUNTY, CA — Firefighters quickly gained the upper hand on three separate vegetation fires Wednesday afternoon in Sonoma County. Around 1:30 p.m., crews responded to the West Fire northeast of Santa Rosa in the 1100 block of Mark West Springs Road, near Riebli Road. The blaze has since been contained to 2 acres, according to Cal Fire's Sonoma-Lake-Napa unit. Just before 2:30 p.m., firefighters were sent to another blaze in the 6400 block of state Highway 12, near Somerville Road east of Santa Rosa. It was dubbed the Wild Fire and was contained to a half-acre. There were no evacuations ordered in the first two blazes. The third and largest blaze, the Grove Fire, was reported around 3 p.m. in the 19300 block of Najim Lane, near Grove Street, in the El Verano area. Around 3:30 p.m., the Sonoma County Sheriff's Office ordered evacuations for all of Najm Lane, all of Wyatt Road, Carriger Road south of Grove Street, and Grove Street between 1920 Grove Street and Olive Avenue. Around 20 minutes later, the evacuation orders were lifted. As of 4:40 p.m., the Grove Fire was contained to 5 acres, Cal Fire said. Air support for the fire in El Verano.
