CHARLOTTE, NC — A pedestrian was struck and killed by a train in a predawn crash in Plaza Midwood early Wednesday morning, according to reports.
The crash occurred near the 900 block of Louise Avenue at Central Avenue around 3 a.m., and prompted road closures while investigators responded to the scene, Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department said.
The crash occurred as a person attempted to cross the tracks as the train approached, CMPD told WCNC.
Streets near the scene were reopened to traffic around 6 a.m., when the train began to move, WSOC reported.
