Description
WORCESTER, MA — Worcester Airport will begin serving commercial passengers beginning in August when JetBlue restarts one of three routes that went dark during the coronavirus pandemic.
JetBlue in September announced an indefinite suspension of service out of Worcester Airport, but the budget airline had halted flights earlier in the summer along with American Airlines. Delta stopped flights out of Worcester in the fall.
JetBlue's nonstop service to New York City's John F. Kennedy Airport will begin in August. The airline plans to restore nonstop service to Ft. Lauderdale in October. JetBlue previously offered a route to Orlando, but that was not part of Wednesday's announcement.
JetBlue flights to JFK were already on sale Wednesday, with one-way flights starting as low as $44.
It's unclear when American and Delta might bring back flights out of Worcester.
The Massachusetts Port Authority purchased Worcester Airport, whose code is ORH, from the city of Worcester in 2010 as it was facing closure.
