Free Japanese Sword Lessons 34th Street Partnership has partnered with New York Budo Association (NYBA) who teaches the art of traditional Japanese Sword (Iaido (居合道), specifically Ryushin Shouchi Ryu (柳心照智流) under the headmaster Kunikazu Yahagi Sensei in Tokyo). Classes involve learning how to properly handle a Japanese sword – warm-up, drawing, cutting, and sheathing the sword, solo forms, partner practice, as well as basic dojo etiquette. Please join us on the Broadway Boulevard between 35th and 36th streets. Each class will be very similar to each other. Masks are required for this event unless NYC guidelines change around public events/gatherings. An inherent risk of exposure to COVID-19 exists in any public places where people are present. COVID-19 is an extremely contagious disease that can lead to severe illness and death. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, senior citizens and guests with medical conditions are especially vulnerable.By participating in the Swords at 34 program, you voluntarily assume all risks related to exposure of COVID-19.
