An opportunity to walk through the civil rights history of our city with guest speakers, artists, and teachers. Plus, community fellowship. All are welcome to join us on a 3.25 mile ruck/walk tour through several Greensboro's Civil Rights milestones as we celebrate Juneteenth, the commemoration of the ending of slavery in the United States in 1865.There will be 5 stops with guest speakers, artists, and teachers. Each stop is historically significant and offers plenty of space to listen, ask, and learn together. Although not required, you're invited to pack a ruck or backpack with some weight (20 lbs. if you weigh less than 150 lbs. And 30 lbs. if you weigh more than 150 lbs.) Or, simply put on your walking shoes and join in. PARKING: New Zion Church (408 MLK, Jr. Dr.) and then walk to Douglas Park (718 E Bragg St.) IMPORTANT: we begin PROMPTLY @ 9AM. Although a free event, we would greatly appreciate a "give what you can" donation be made to #Pushups4Playgrounds, a multi-generational impact initiative started by F3 Greensboro to celebrate the Glenwood Neighborhood through fitness, fellowship and faith in the community and installing a playground for the students of Clara J. Peck Elementary & neighbors in historic Glenwood. Your donation can be made upon checkout. The first 100 donations will receive a unique, engraved, wooden Morale Patch commemorating the Juneteenth Flag.
