Description

LODI, NJ — A Bergen County used car salesman sent several text messages threatening attacks on New York City, all of them false, posing no actual threat to the city, the Bergen County Prosecutor said. Miguel A. Baez, of Lodi, is charged with making a false public alarm after he sent anonymous text messages on Sunday claiming that an attack was set to take place in New York City. The Cyber Crimes Unit began an investigation, determining that no real threat was present, and that Baez had used technology to anonymize his caller ID to send the messages. Baez was arrested in Paramus on Monday, when he was charged with making the false threats, a third-degree crime. He was released pending his first appearance in a Hackensack courtroom.
