Description

OAKLAND, NJ —Kids entering Kindergarten in the upcoming school year are eligible to participate in the early childhood safety course Safety Town. The week-long program is designed to introduce kids to many types of safety conditions, teaching safe behavior through their own involvement. Kids will role-play in simulated and actual life situations under the guidance of teachers, a police officer, and student volunteers. There will be safety songs, art projects, stories, movies, and visits with police, fire departments and first aid quad. The program is endorsed and supported by the Oakland Mother's Club, Oakland's Father's Club, Oakland Municipal Alliance and the Oakland P.B.A. Safety town is happening from July 12 to 15 and July 19 to 22. Kids will be divided into two groups: one from 8:55 a.m. to 10:15 a.m. and another one for 10:30 a.m. to 12 p.m. There is a maximum capacity of 100 kids and a fee of $100. Parents can sign up their kids during kindergarten registration or by mailing the appropriate forms by June 11.
