Description

Mindfulness, Emotional Health Boosting, Physical Activity, and good old Hanging & Being Outside Time 1:30-4 PM on Tues, June 8; Wed, June 9; and Thurs, June 10 Ages 13-17, $69 PARENTS! We all benefit by taking care of ourselves and figuring out who we are, but teens are uniquely positioned developmentally to explore ways to be healthy in mind, body and spirit, and identify key elements of themselves that they want to nurture. As teens learn more and more about how to take up this noble cause, the happier they—and everyone around them—becomes. Sessions include the introduction of mindfulness and stress reduction exercises, in addition to social and physical activity. Some nutrition basics come out in Snack Potluck. Teens are encouraged to think about how they process emotions, and the Happiness Quiz Game offers teens a chance to think through conclusions current research offers us about using self-care & self-discovery for the ultimate prize—enjoying life. TEENS! At the end of a long, weird school year, take a break and focus on something more important than anything else—YOU. Spend time with yourself and other teens socializing, being outside, and learning through doing, not studying, about how to enjoy life even more. Using a friendship circle model, this program offers informal conversation and sharing, as well as some physical activity and tips on wellness to mix things up. You’ll also hear from some real folks with real stories about how they figured out who they wanted or needed to be, and then became that person. Ever have a moment where you’re like, “This tree is SO beautiful?” Or: “I feel completely understood when I listen to this song?” Maybe, for a minute, you were filled with a feeling of appreciation for something that was so deep you touched a kind of happiness that made whatever you might have been worrying about before that completely disappear. These experiences are building blocks of feeling good, or well-being. Learn how to make more of them. How to register: Send an email to [email protected] with name and age of participating teen, and then make payment via Venmo (Bridget Hardy – 3), snail mail, credit card, or here, on Eventbrite. If needed, more detailed instructions about payment will come to you after your email, followed by confirmation and additional information. Questions? Email or call/text 574.876.7786. A minimum of 10 teens required to run the program, and participants capped at 18. At the first session, parent/guardian will be asked to fill out a waiver/information form. Bridget Hardy is a Wellness Coach, Personal Trainer, Group Exercise & Dance Teacher in addition to the mom of a teenager. She’s completed the Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction workshop designed by Jon Kabbat-Zinn and created curriculum for Plant-Based eating education and support groups. ** Please know that one or more of our guest speakers may talk about being queer/trans, a profound loss in their life, previous drug/alcohol use, and the strategies they used to process issues of identity/struggle.
