The mission of Loaves and Fishes of Contra Costa is to provide community-based food programs and partner services that focus on basic needs. We nourish lives! Position: Development Associate Status: Part-time, 15 hours per week (2-3 days/week) Benefits: No benefits offered for employees under 30 hours per week Work-related expenses and travel will be reimbursed Start Date: July 1, 2021 Office Location: 835 Ferry Street, Martinez CA 94553 Job Description: The development associate is responsible for assisting in and supporting fundraising operations within Loaves and Fishes. The Development Associate reports to the Development Director. Essential Duties and Responsibilities of the Development Associate: • Provides support to Development Director in all fundraising activities including donor cultivation, grant writing, and fundraising events. • Manages silent auctions for all fundraising events: annual event, golf and bocce. • Manages post-event wrap-up process, including thank you letters/emails to event attendees, auction donors, etc. • Helps develop content for quarterly newsletters. • Seeks fundraising opportunities in community through donor cultivation and corporate research and outreach. • Performs basic administrative duties such as document preparation, data entry, acknowledgments related to fundraising events and more. • Attends community awareness events as needed and represents LFCC. Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: • Possesses experience in Microsoft Office: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Publisher • Experience or willingness to learn donor database system, Donor Perfect and event software, Greater Giving. • Has the ability to work flexible work hours. Some evening and weekends for fundraising events. • Displays exceptional time-management and organizational skills as needed for meeting deadlines. • Shows persuasiveness and the ability to procure donors, funders and auction items needed for fundraising events. • Demonstrates a professional demeanor whether speaking to others in person, over the phone, email and other written communications. • Works well alone as well as under direct supervision. Qualifications: • Bachelor’s degree • 1-2 years’ experience in fundraising/development or other non-profit work a plus • Persuasive oral and written communication skills. • Strong organizational skills, including ability to handle multiple tasks, meet deadlines, and prioritize assignments. Meticulous attention to detail including excellent proofreading and copyediting skills. • Ability to work and communicate effectively with people of all ages from very diverse backgrounds. • Ability to use discretion and diplomacy in dealing with donors, Board members, staff, volunteers and colleagues. • Ability to maintain high level of confidentiality. • Able to research and develop funding opportunities.
