SALEM, NH — A woman from New York was arrested on Tuesday in Salem after being accused of wrong-way drunken driving and crashing into a box truck.
Just before 3 a.m., New Hampshire State Police were sent to a crash on Interstate 93 north on the Exit 1 offramp. When troopers arrived, they determined a 2009 Subaru Forester "had been traveling in the wrong direction on the offramp" and crashed head-on into a 2016 Isuzu box truck, according to Lt. Bryan Trask of Troop B.
Anne E. Bell, 26, of Albany, New York, was driving the Subaru, Trask said. She was taken to the Parkland Medical Center with minor injuries. The box truck driver was not injured, he said.
Later, Bell was arrested and charged with driving while intoxicated and reckless conduct. She was released on personal recognizance and is due in Salem District Court on July 8.
Trask said troopers were assisted by Salem police and firefighters. The offramp was closed for about 90 minutes during the investigation and cleanup.
Anyone who witnessed the crash is asked to contact Trooper Henry Gula at [email protected] or 603-227-2175.
