GLEN ELLYN, IL — Glen Ellyn residents can donate non-perishable food items other goods at a drive-up food drive hosted by Ackerman Sports and Fitness Center (SFC) on May 27. The event, which benefits Glen Ellyn Food Pantry, will be held from 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Drivers should pull up to Ackerman SFC's front entrance and stay in their cars during the food drive, as volunteers will be on hand to unload donated items. The next food donation opportunity is slated for June 29 from 1 p.m. to 6 p.m. The events are also made possible by Kiwanis Club of Central DuPage and State Rep. Terra Costa Howard. What: Food Drive When: May 27 from 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Where: Ackerman Sports and Fitness Complex, 800 St. Charles Rd., Glen Ellyn Patch has partnered with Feeding America to help raise awareness on behalf of the millions of Americans facing hunger. Feeding America, which supports 200 food banks across the country, estimates that in 2020, more than 50 million Americans will not have enough nutritious food to eat due to the effects of the coronavirus pandemic.
