VILLA PARK, IL — Villa Park police shot and killed a 25-year-old Lombard person Monday after receiving a report that someone was outside with a gun, the Daily Herald reported Monday. The incident happened about 2 a.m. in the 200 block of East Kenilworth Avenue. The person, identified as Haven A. Bailey, was holding what appeared to be a gun, approached the officers and refused their orders to drop the weapon, the newspaper reported. While police referred to Bailey as a woman, family told WGN Bailey was a transgender man. According to a police news release, officers recovered a black pellet gun made to look like a Sig Sauer 1911 pistol. The preliminary investigation revealed Bailey made the initial 911 call to report the person with a gun in the street, the release said.
