Dearborn Residents Can Learn About Redistricting At June 2 Event

DEARBORN, MI — Dearborn residents will have a chance to learn about the Michigan Independent Citizens Redistricting Commission during a June 2 Dearborn Public Library Zoom program. Michigan voters in 2018 approved the creation of the MICRC, which has a stated mission to lead the state's redistricting process and draw district lines in a citizen-led, transparent process, meeting Constitutional mandates. The June 2 first Zoom presentation is being conducted in anticipation of the MICRC hosting an open meeting at the Ford Community & Performing Arts Center on June 3. The June 2 presentation will feature MICRC Commission Vice-Chair Rebecca Szetala and begins at 7 p.m. During the June 2 program, Szetala will detail how the Commission will work and how residents can help design which areas of the map will best represent them through their input to the commission, officials explained. People can visit the library's website to register for the program, which is free.
