Yet in Democrat-run cities like Minneapolis, racist policing resulted in George Floyd being murdered in the most highly watched police killing of all time. The Democrats tout their records of standing up for the poor and the disenfranchised. Yet Biden, who promised to raise the federal minimum wage to $15/hr, quickly dropped this effort when the Senate refused to sign on to a stimulus bill which had a $15 minimum wage provision in it. The Democrats promised to champion human rights around the world. Yet as Israeli bombs rained down on Palestinian homes in Gaza, the Democrats approved a $735 million deal to supply more bombs to the bombers. Biden personally championed the Plan Colombia and funding for the ESMAD, the brutally violent police force that has murdered dozens of Colombian protestors and injured over a thousand more in the last two weeks. The Democratic Party — even its progressive wing — doesn't fight for working and oppressed people. It props up the system that keeps us down. But another world IS possible. Revolutionary socialists organize the working class independently of capitalist parties to win liberation and a better future. And we need more of us!
