General Tree Service, a leader in the arboricultural industry since 1924, has an immediate opening for a Shop Technician Assistant. The ideal candidate will have a mechanical aptitude and a desire to learn about arboricultural practices. He or she will want to learn every day and apply that new knowledge to the work environment. This person will need to be organized and communicate clearly, both verbally and in writing. Some computer skills such as word and excel would be helpful, but not necessary, if the applicant is willing to work at learning those skills. A willingness to help in other departments as needed is required. Duties include; • Lube and Oil changes on General Tree Service vehicles and equipment • Parts pick up • Delivery of tools and equipment to job site • Recording of monthly mileage and hours on equipment • Maintain cleanliness of shop area • Duties will expand as skills are developed You will learn more advanced vehicle and equipment maintenance such as; • Chipper service and knife changing • Small engine repair • Chain saw chain sharpening • Brake service • Engine repair There will be an opportunity for working in another department; • Working with our Plant Health Care department • Working with our Pruning department • With experience, try your hand at horticultural sales Benefits include: 100% company paid medical and dental insurance premiums for our employees with subsidized insurance premiums for dependents, 401(k) with employer match, 125 plan, tuition reimbursement, paid holidays, paid personal time off and competitive wages.
