Description

Carefully and meticulously bred and hatched in local water with high pH, these golden and black knight ram youngsters are hearty and healthy. These are not farm-raised fish from the east coast, pumped full of antibiotics and hormones/colorants and accustomed to only soft water! Ram cichlids are generally peaceful but bold little fish. They have great personalities, and are the type of fish that are often given names by their owners because of their cheeky character. Rams are best kept by experienced fish hobbyists (as they are not a beginner’s fish) in an established and cycled aquarium. They are known to be quite sensitive to water conditions and temperatures, preferring a lower pH range and warmer water, between 82-85 degrees F, and need excellent water quality with low flow. My rams have been raised in our local hard water without issue, although I do add almond leaves to the tank. I keep them at 84 degrees F. Rams enjoy live food such as brine shrimp, but can be given a wide variety of foods including fresh, frozen, and dried. Variety is the spice of life, even for ram cichlids! Included are photos of Dad (black knight) and Mom (golden), as well as their offspring that were hatched on March 6, 2021. The babies are now 11 weeks old, and around 1.25" in length. Their colors will intensify as they mature. Currently they are not colored up, but gender may be determinable. Golden youngsters are $10 each. Black youngsters are $30 each. Parent fish are not for sale. No shipping! Please bring a small container, and you can net out the rams of your own choosing. Located in Hemet. Email is the best method to initially contact me. Thanks!!
