Appalachian Mountain Camping and Retreat Advice

I'm not from around here at all. I am from the Eastern Shore of Maryland (where postal code is located), and I have been wanting to do a 7-day mountain retreat in the Appalachian Mountains (Shenandoah Valley) for a long time. However, since I don't live in Virginia, I don't know the laws of Virginia as well, and since I'm not as much of an outdoorsy person as I should be for this, I don't know safety protocols, areas, etc. that well. I was part of a Facebook group called Shenandoah Valley Nudist Group before I left Facebook at which point I had no way up there. I finally have a vehicle, and I am hoping to aim to go there this summer, however, I feel like I might need some advice. I am a naturist and don't want to get in trouble meditating in the wrong areas (if you know what I mean), and I don't know what wildlife is like up there. I intend on exploring the areas from Grottoes to Natural Valley Virginia within the course of these 7 days. So, from one non-local to a local (and if I'm lucky someone formerly from that Facebook group), anybody care for some advice? Thanks in advance, Nate C.
