Considering Rehoming Dog

Description

Coco is a five year old mixed breed, who will likely live to at least twelve. I did a DNA test on her and she is mainly a retriever mix. She is spayed and microchipped with Home Again. We use Valley Vet for Coco. We will be very specific on where she goes if we rehome her, and will want her back if the future owner cannot keep her. She would NOT make a good farm dog, she has a high prey drive and although she has a great recall and has never killed anything, I wouldn't trust her. She must also be either the only pet in the family, or it must be a female dog who is larger than her or the same size (she is 85 pounds or so). She can do okay with cats, but gets rough if they start playing. With kids, it is best they are bigger and respectful (6 years and up) although she does live with my two old daughter and they get along fine because we make sure my daughter is respectful to Coco. Coco was rescued at 8 months old from owners that neglected her, they gave her to me directly. I have put a lot of work into helping Coco, but I no longer feel she is happy with our current lifestyle. She doesnt get to have the exercise she should (will be a must for a new owner), and needs more love and attention than I can provide anymore. We would like to visit the homes of any potential owners, and get an idea of the life that would be provided for Coco. She goes to Jenn's Pet Parlor every 3 months for a groom. Her nails need to be trimmed by you in between, she doesn't like it but she does not bite. She has NEVER bitten a human but has fought dogs. She likes to go to the dog park, but wears a muzzles to prevent any issues. Coco doesn't like loud things like the vacuum or blender, and will just leave the room. She is potty trained, and we don't let her on the couch or bed. She will come with her food bowl, all of her paperwork, some bones, her brush, her muzzle (for the park or when with other dogs) collar, and head collar (she does great on walks with this on). If you are not active and willing to put in the effort to make sure she doesnt have issues with other animals, Coco is not the right dog for you. You will always be able to reach me for questions about her or to send her home to me if you feel it isnt working out.
