Description
Genevieve Schmidt Landscape Design and Fine Garden Maintenance has been in business in Humboldt County (Arcata, Eureka, McKinleyville, Trinidad, Fortuna, Blue Lake) for over 20 years and has a loyal group of clients who want their beautifully-landscaped garden areas cared for with skill and precision. We don't do mowing and lawn care; rather we do an efficient yet detail-oriented job caring for plants with pruning, weeding, raking, deadheading, planting, fertilizing, refreshing mulch, checking irrigation seasonally, etc. We also do some brush removal/ renovations and new planting installations which require physical fitness and some strength. We're seeking just the right person to help with this work, with an emphasis on contributing to our plant installation and garden renovation projects. Ideally you would have experience doing landscape maintenance of shrubs and perennials (pruning, deadheading, weeding), as well as mulching, clearing new beds for planting, planting shrubs, and drip irrigation. We may be able to train motivated candidates who do not yet have professional experience. Speed and energy, enjoyment of this type of work, and exceptional organizational skills are key. You must have: * A professional presentation and appearance * A passion for plants and gardening * Desire for long-term, permanent work (FT preferred, PT OK) *The level of physical fitness necessary to garden (weeding and clearing brush, shoveling mulch or compost, raking, digging and planting, pruning and sawing, etc) year-round, rain or shine. *Smart phone available to communicate with coworkers and stay organized (take photos, text, use calendar and timesheet apps) 8-530 on workdays *A reliable vehicle, preferably a truck *Desire to develop leadership skills and grow within the company. *Good organizational skills and ability to keep and create thorough, clear records (photographic and written) for every job visited. ***Special consideration given to applicants who have a truck (open bed, with no shell) available for light work use such as hauling green waste to the dump at the end of each day, or picking up loads of wood chips or compost. Time and mileage would always be paid between jobs and for any pickup and drop-off tasks, as well as a $2 per hour vehicle use benefit every day your truck is driven to work (this essentially increases your hourly rate for all hours worked).*** **This is a clean, drug-free workplace.** You need to be on it to keep up with our pace and professionalism. Compensation: Hourly rate of pay is based upon previous experience and skills demonstrated during trial days. This is a legal employee position, not "independent contractor" work.
