We operate the Trans-Sierra Xtreme Challenge, Grand Canyon Challenge, Hell For Sure Challenge, and Mt. Whitney Youth Challenge – each a series of inspirational guided backpacking treks – across Kings Canyon and Sequoia National Parks, Grand Canyon National Park, and John Muir Wilderness. Our experiences enable people who lack the skill set or confidence to safely venture into some of the most remote, least-traveled regions of our nation’s back country. Each outing is a team effort, and open to individuals of all ages. While physically, mentally, and emotionally challenging, completing a challenge provides tangible proof and renewed conviction that no matter your age, you can do anything you put your mind to. Since 1983, our founders have led over 1,000 people across our week-long trans-Sierra route to the summit of Mt. Whitney, including more than 140 students exiting the 5th grade. Our guides are among the most experienced backpackers in the Sierra and Grand Canyon. We lead by example in our appreciation of the outdoors.
