Fire Crews Extinguish Fire At Waukesha Iron and Metal

WAUKESHA, WI—City of Waukesha Fire Department responded to a fire at 8:20 p.m. on Saturday at Waukesha Iron and Metal, 1340 E Main St., according to a news release. Fire officials found a large pile of scrap metal 50 feet tall with fire and smoke coming from the top of the pile. Fortunately, the pile was isolated and the fire was unable to spread, the fire department said. The crew used two ladder trucks to bring the blaze under control. Employees from Waukesha Iron & Metal assisted by using cranes to pull the pile apart so the fire could be extinguished, the fire department said. The fire was extinguished by 10 p.m. There were no injuries or fatalities. The cause of the fire is undetermined. The owner of Waukesha Iron & Metal stated they ran their normal operation until 3 p.m., and were on site performing maintenance until 7 p.m. No additional information is planned to be released for this incident.
