D1 Training, a leading fitness concept utilizing the five core tenets of athletic-based training, will be opening the first Madison location on May 24 at 243 W. Towne Mall. The group fitness facility employs a sports-science backed training regimen led by certified trainers to help people of all ages achieve their sport and fitness goals. Carrie and Tyler Lockton will join a roster of impressive existing franchisees and owners, some of which include professional athletes such as Von Miller, Tim Tebow and Michael Oher. Prior to launching Madison’s D1 Training, Tyler worked for over 20 years on Wall Street, and later spent time in residential real estate development. Carrie, a former NCAA Division 1 swimmer, led product and merchandise development for several retail brands. The couple became interested in careers that were more personal to their interests and gave back to their community. After looking into several business opportunities, the pair discovered D1 Training, and knew it was the perfect match for Carrie’s athletic background and their professional and personal interests. This is their first D1 Training facility with plans to open a second location in the Madison area in the future. D1 Training Madison is operated by General Manager Brady Greco, a Madison native who played division one college hockey for Michigan Tech University and Colorado College. Brady was also drafted into the NHL in 2003 by the Tampa Bay Lightning and signed with them in 2005. After his playing career, Greco worked in performance coaching and personal fitness in both Minnesota and Madison. Greco was interested in D1 Training because it provided an opportunity to combine his interests of fitness with training and education. “D1 Training delivers the best workout experience in the industry because of our expertly-designed workouts and our educated and energetic coaches,” said Carrie. “Residents in the Madison area will be able to see that D1 caters to everyone, whether you’re a parent looking to sneak a work out in or an athlete looking to hone in on skills. Our coaches are dedicated to creating high energy, positive training spaces, all while delivering individualized feedback and proven results to everyone that comes in.” In addition to specializing in both personal and team training, D1 Training of Madison offers four age-based programs that are vetted by top Division 1 strength and conditioning coaches in the NCAA. The programs are Rookie (ages 7-11), Developmental (ages 12-14), Prep (ages 15-18) and Adult programs. Each fitness program is based on D1’s 5-Star Training philosophy incorporating: dynamic warm-up, performance, strength, core and conditioning, and cool down. Plus, every workout is expertly-designed by D1’s National Training Panel, led by a certified trainer, and built around the concept of periodization which builds week-upon-week to create a well-rounded program targeted to reach specific goals. Some additional benefits of D1’s 5-Star Training include utilization of the latest science in training and physiology, 1on1 goal setting and tracking of results, adaptable and personalized workouts, and more. “Carrie and Tyler are the ideal candidates to bring the D1 Training experience to Madison,” said the brand’s Chief Operating Officer, Dan Murphy. “We’re thrilled to welcome them to the D1 family and are confident in their ability to show the Madison area what they’ve been missing out on. D1 is a one-of-a-kind fitness experience that’s built around the individual and meant to help people meet their appropriate edge. Our strong network of franchisees embodies our core values to bring the D1 Training vision to life, and we know Carrie and Tyler will do just that in Madison and its surrounding communities.” Strategically expanding across the nation through franchising, D1 Training has more than 50 performance centers open with 99 additional locations in development. The brand is currently seeking qualified and active community members to expand its footprint and help more people meet their fitness goals.
