NORTH ATTLEBORO, MA — A search for a missing person in North Attleboro has been called off after first responders from multiple communities conducted an investigation, said North Attleboro Fire Chief Christopher Coleman in a news release. Fire and police officials were dispatched to a wooded area near Brookside Way Sunday morning after receiving a report of someone calling for help, said Coleman. Following the initial report, several other residents on Sheldonville Road also reported that they heard a male's voice calling for help. Due to the large number of reports received by the department, a large scale search and rescue operation was organized by several local fire departments, including Cumberland, Norton, and Mansfield, and the Massachusetts State Police. After searching an area equal to a mile and 60 acres, no one was found, said Coleman. The scene was cleared around 1:30 p.m. and the search was called off. The North Attleboro fire station was covered by Attleboro, Plainville, and Mansfield firefighters during the search.
