Assistant Stamford Police Chief Retires After 37 Years Of Service

STAMFORD, CT — After nearly four decades of service, Stamford Assistant Police Chief Thomas Wuennemann has retired. According to a Facebook post from the Stamford Police Department, Wuennemann officially retired on May 19. Overt the years, his duties included being the department's first ever D.A.R.E officer and the District Commander of the Downtown and South End of Stamford. He was also the interim Police Chief before finishing his career as the Assistant Chief of Police. He worked with the Special Olympics and the Downtown Special Services District as well. When he wasn't working in the department, Wuennemann was a professor at Sacred Heart University. He graduated from the FBI National Academy, and the Senior Management Institute for police. "Thank you for your service and dedication. Enjoy this time with your amazing family. Best of health and happiness," the department said on Facebook.
