NEWTOWN, CT — A 23-year-old Shelton man was arrested by Newtown police on narcotics charges Friday night after officers found "fentanyl/heroin along with marijuana and oxycodone" in his vehicle following a traffic stop, according to authorities. Jauwan Edwards, of Hillside Avenue, was charged with: Possession with intent to sellPossession of a controlled substancePossession of drug paraphernaliaMisuse of license platesOperation of a motor vehicle without insuranceOperation of a motor vehicle without a driver's license Edwards was pulled over about 10:50 p.m. on Berkshire Road in Newtown after police discovered the license plate on his car belonged to another vehicle, police said. During the motor vehicle stop, officers discovered Edwards had the narcotics in the vehicle, and that vehicle also was uninsured, unregistered, and Edwards did not have a driver's license, authorities said. Edwards was taken into custody and later released after posting bond on bail of $25,000. He is scheduled to appear in Danbury Superior Court on June 3.
