ALL PROCEEDS GOING DIRECTLY TO COMMON GROUND MONTGOMERY CGM’s mission is to “change the odds” for children and youth facing potentially destructive personal and community risks. They do it by providing community centered presence and programming in distressed areas of the city, in which they seek to holistically develop youth by connecting them across all societal dividing lines to people, experiences, and opportunity they wouldn’t normally have access to. They utilize ‘life on life’ mentoring, after school programs, summer camps, and opportunities to see youth partner with others to change everyone who participates in the mission for mutual transformation for the betterment of our cities and community. “Onawa” is a plant of CGM that will provide summer youth retreats and camps that focus on developing youth by outdoor and camp experiences while mentoring, teaching life skills, leadership development, soft job skills, and professional trauma therapy where appropriate. The retreat center will also provide adult weeks and weekends all year long with therapeutic opportunities such as marriage retreats, addiction recovery retreats, emotional trauma healing retreats, relational reconciliation, and prayer and spiritual intimacy retreats.
