Arlington Public Safety Honored For Jan. 6 Insurrection Response

ARLINGTON, VA — On May 11, Chief Robert J. Contee III of the Metropolitan Police Department presented a Ribbon of Valor to MPD officers and members of outside law enforcement agencies who assisted in the response to the Jan. 6 insurrection at the U.S. Capitol, according to an MPD spokeswoman. Local agencies recognized with the Ribbon of Valor include police departments from Arlington County, Fairfax County, Montgomery County, Prince William County, and Prince George's County, as well as the Maryland State and Virginia State Police departments. The Arlington County Fire Department was also recognized. During the May 11 ceremony, Arlington County Police Capt. Michael Quigley, Cpl. Brandon Gilkes, Cpl. I Woolley, Cpl. Brent Olson, and Lt. Steve Troyano, as well Arlington Fire Department Lt. Nathan Waterfall, accepted the ribbons on behalf of the 65 members for their departments who were recognized. Arlington County has a mutual aide agreement with Washington, D.C. and other jurisdictions in the area to provide mutual assistance whenever needed. D.C. Police Chief Robert J. Contee III presented a Ribbon of Valor to all of the public safety agencies that assisted the Metropolitan Police Department on Jan. 6.
