POINT PLEASANT, NJ – In a letter to parents posted on the school district's website, the summer reading program guidelines were announced for all Point Pleasant Borough students. "The members of our Summer Reading Committee met to discuss ways to keep students reading throughout the summer," Heather Karagias, Supervisor of English Language Arts and Social Studies K-12, said in the letter. "Each school is working on a "Summer Reading Kick-Off" and will continue throughout the next two weeks to help students plan out their summer reading activities." Also in the letter was a list of various supports to help students along during the summer reading program, which include: • Summer Reading Lists • Access to e-books • Reading Bingo Boards (For students entering grades 1-5) • i-Ready Reading (For students entering grades 1-5) • An Instagram page that you can follow and post favorite books • A summer reading contest, with prizes furnished by the Point Pleasant Education Foundation and the PTOs at every school. The letter also said that the students' reading logs need to be filled out to be eligible for the summer reading contest on the district website.
