ARVADA, CO — In a crisis, do Arvadans have each other's backs? The city's biannual neighborhood survey aims to find out how connected you feel to fellow residents. The data that's collected will help to develop the Arvada Neighborhood Social Cohesion Index — a tool that will help the city decide which resources can build community resilience, officials said. The initiative was created after research from New Jersey's Superstorm Sandy found that strong connections between neighbors are very important for disaster recovery. "We are all navigating the recovery process from a major disruption to our lives, COVID-19," the city's neighborhood engagement team said in a statement on the survey webpage. "Your input helps us track changes over time, and especially regarding how your neighborhood is faring during this uncertain time so that we can provide better (and reimagined) services." The survey deadline is Friday. "Even if you've taken the survey before, please take it again!" the engagement team said. "We are tracking changes over time and are especially interested in learning how your neighborhood is faring after this challenging last year!" >> You can take the survey here.
