MORRISTOWN, NJ — A Morristown police officer convinced a man Saturday to step back from a ledge atop a five-floor building. The man willingly walked away and was taken to Morristown Medical Center for a mental-health screening.
The man sat atop a building with his legs dangling over the side. As police worked their way up to the roof, Officer Bruce LaFera started talking to the man.
Ultimately, LaFera convinced him to step back from the ledge. Police determined the man was suffering from a behavioral-health emergency.
Those experiencing any behavioral crisis or emergency can call Saint Clare's Health's 24-hour hotline at 973-625-6160.
