AUSTIN, TX — The Hamilton Pool Preserve will be closed to swimmers for the foreseeable future due to falling rocks related to heavy rains and February's winter storms.
Travis County Parks announced Monday it had closed the pool due to heavy rains and flooding in the canyon.
Those who had a reservation for a time period at the pool, will receive an email with instructions on how to reschedule. The pool was expected to be fully booked, officials said.
Park officials do not expect to allow swimmers to swim in the pool this summer as rocks have been falling with increased frequency at many locations in and around the pool since February's storms.

The section of trail that goes underneath the overhanging cliff at the pool is also closed for safety concerns.
Visitors can access the beach, but cannot walk all the way around the pool to below the waterfall, park officials said. Following the big freeze, rocks have been falling more frequently from the cliffs above the trail.
The Saturday morning guided hikes at Hamilton Pool Preserve are also suspended until further notice, officials said.
The park is now accepting reservations through the month of June. Reservations for dates in July are not yet available.
As a reminder, reservations are currently required to visit Hamilton Pool every day of the week. For more information, click here.
