WHO Recognizes City of Manhattan Beach For 'No Tobacco Day'

MANHATTAN BEACH, CA —Manhattan Beach is among the winners of the World Health Organization's "World Tobacco Day Awards." Every year, WHO recognizes individuals or organizations in each of the six WHO Regions for their accomplishments in the area of tobacco control. This recognition takes the form of WHO Director-General Special Recognition Award and World No Tobacco Day Awards. In their Region of the Americas category, the City of Manhattan Beach shared the honor with the City of Beverly Hills. According to the WHO nomination guidelines, the nominees must have made an outstanding contribution to the advancement of the policies and measures contained in the WHO Framework Convention on Tobacco Control and its guidelines, particularly in relation to the theme of World No Tobacco Day.
