Elmhurst Sees Lowest Virus Rate Hike Since Pandemic's Start

ELMHURST, IL — Elmhurst experienced the lower percentage increase in coronavirus cases last week since the beginning of the pandemic, according to DuPage County Health Department numbers. As of Sunday, the city had 4,366 cases, an increase of 20 cases from the week before, or a 0.5 percent hike. The previous week, it was 0.7 percent. The number of those who have recovered is unavailable. As of Sunday, the number of coronavirus-related deaths in Elmhurst stayed the same in the last week, at 67. The mortality rate among those locally with the coronavirus is 1.5 percent. Nationally, 32.9 million people have caught the virus, up 0.7 percent from the week before. A total of 586,535 people have died from the virus in the United States.
