ELMHURST, IL — Elmhurst Mayor Scott Levin is set to present the city's first Pride proclamation next month, a local group said Monday. The Elmhurst Pride Collective said the mayor would present the document at 6:30 p.m. June 9 on the back lawn of the Elmhurst Art Museum, the group said in a news release. The proclamation states, in part, "Elmhurst's Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender and Queer residents are welcome and valuable members of our community and Elmhurst is dedicated to fostering acceptance of all its citizens and preventing discrimination and bullying based on sexual orientation and gender identity." Other Pride activities scheduled for Elmhurst include a festival co-hosted by the Elmhurst Presbyterian Church and the Elmhurst Pride Collective in the church parking lot, 367 Spring Road, from noon to 3 p.m. Also, the Elmhurst City Centre plans a scavenger hunt and contest throughout downtown Elmhurst.
