POSITION DESCRIPTION: Under the general direction of the Director of Programs of the Center of Concern and grantor guidelines, the Housing Support Specialist possesses full responsibility for the implementation of the ESG-Rapid Re-Housing Program (ESG-RRH), and all grant requirements are met by grant program year end date. This is completed in compliance with policies and procedures and the Housing Support Specialist performs related duties as assigned. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Plans and develops all phases of ESG-RRH Program operations.Develops and maintains appropriate fiscal records and reports for the ESG-RRH program.Participates in training through Coordinated Entry (CE) to enhance skill building and ensure that all client services are provided effectively.Provides direct client assistance to clients in the ESG-RRH program and all other clients through Homeless Prevention and Housing Counseling Services.Ensures accurate and timely financial and client information into databases and files for ESG-RRH.Manages and ensures all grant requirements are met by program year end date.Provides supportive services to clients in accordance with grant requirements.Works regularly scheduled hours as assigned by the Director of Programs unless directed otherwise.Conduct on and off-site housing assessments, housing counseling, homeless prevention services, coordinates needed services for individuals/families and provide referrals using agency resource directory.Facilitates the creation of individual case plans, interventions, and obtain all required paperwork.Communicates separate client needs using agency protocol.Maintains accurate records and timely completion of paperwork; creates reports as needed and/or as requested by Director of Programs.Participates in mandatory HMIS (Homeless Management Information System) and Coordinated Entry (CE) trainings and perform data entry in required databases.Ability to provide services to clients in Spanish is preferred.Performs all other activities and duties as assigned. EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE Bachelor's degree in social-service related field preferred with at least three (3) years related experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.Previous experience with Rapid Re-Housing Program, Homeless Management Information System (HMIS), and Coordinated Entry process is desirable.Ability to exercise discretion in handling confidential information.Previous experience with providing support to homeless population, housing counseling, and Suburban Cook Call Center process.Experience managing grants is preferred.Knowledge of grant funded program practices and procedures.Proficient in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, and Power Point), and Adobe Acrobat and ability to learn database (Apricot).Excellent time management skills and the ability to prioritize work.Expert level written and oral communication skills. KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES: Ability to work with diverse learners, various professionals, and community groups.Strong experience in providing housing counseling, homeless prevention services.Fluency in Spanish (speaking, listening, writing, reading) is preferred but not required.Sensitivity to working with vulnerable populations.Strong organizational skills that reflect ability to perform and prioritize multiple tasks seamlessly with excellent attention to detail.Very strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build relationships with volunteers, stakeholders, staff, board members, external partners and donors.Demonstrated proactive approaches to problem-solving with strong decision-making capabilityHighly resourceful team-player, with the ability to also be extremely effective independently.Proven ability to handle confidential information with discretion, be adaptable to various competing demands, and demonstrate the highest level of client service and response.Demonstrated ability to achieve high performance goals and meet deadlines in a fast paced environment.Exercises good judgment in a variety of situations, possessing strong communication, administrative, and organizational skills, and the ability to maintain a realistic balance among multiple priorities.BENEFITS: Dental insuranceHealth insurancePaid time offVision insurance SCHEDULE Full-timeMonday to Friday VIEW FULL HOUSING SUPPORT SPECIALIST JOB DESCRIPTION ON INDEED
