SMITHTOWN, NY—The Town of Smithtown voted to buy The Oasis Gentleman's Club at 490 W. Jericho Tpke. after years of legal negotiations. Last year, Smithtown even considered using eminent domain to get rid of the topless bar that is across from the landmark Smithtown bull statue and close to the Nissequogue River. Last week, Newsday reported that on Thursday the town voted unanimously to purchase the property for $815,000 in a deal with the bar's owner. The Oasis will close in June.
