Hey hey! My name is Ben Anderson, and I am a professional drummer of 15+ years looking to get involved in the Columbus music scene. I provide lessons, session work (I have an in home studio capable of tracking) and live performance. I moved here from Nashville TN where I was involved in the downtown music scene full time. I have still kept in touch with a vast majority of the groups I played with and actually still travel with one, but I am getting to the point where I want to start a new chapter in my music career and try and get involved locally here in Columbus and not rely on travel gigs and/or nashville relationships for my income. With that being said though, I AM looking to continue to make music for a living, so I am not looking for opportunities that are unpaid or that don't make sense for me financially. I am making a living with the opportunities I have right now, and I will not jeopardize that. I ultimately moved here to marry my wife (the things you'll do for love, right? haha) and we are expecting our first child very soon, and I would just rather remain in town as much as possible during this time. I have top shelf gear, I don't drink or do drugs, and I do my homework. So, my background as a drummer varies in a lot of different ways. I grew up as a massive metalhead and ventured into a large amount of heavy progressive metal influences, and still somewhat am a metalhead to this day. Over the years though, I have really been able to really tap into a lot of different genres, able to create my own unique fingerprint in them, and have been involved with countless different styles of music during my time in Nashville and even during the time I have been in Columbus. Upon request I will gladly send over my credentials, influences, gear list, session work/groups I have been a part of, etc. This ad is just mostly an attempt to further my intentions of trying to get my name out to musicians in this area that maybe need a drummer for a project of their own or know somebody that does. I am a pretty simple person. I just want to be fulfilled and do what I am most passionate about in this life. I strive to be surrounded by music and musicians that have a like minded passion and unquenchable hunger for creating music in different facets. I am open to different opportunities (cover bands, session work, original material, wedding/corporate event shows, etc) so do not hesitate to reach out if it seems like I could be of use to you and your vision and we can talk about details. The worst thing that could happen is that we both gain a new musician as a friend to have in our back pocket for future opportunities or networking purposes. At the end of the day, I am less interested in the opportunity and more interested in the musicians and the relationships and experiences I can gain from this city.
