Description
The Laborer reports to the Foreman and is responsible for completing physical labor tasks on the jobsite. Tasks include hand digging, sweeping/cleaning the job site, loading and unloading materials, putting together and taking apart of equipment, and others as directed by the Foreman. Laborer Responsibilities • Helps prepare and load crew truck for daily tasks • Hand digging and related tasks that require physical labor • Spotting for equipment operators and drivers while digging and moving equipment • Other duties as assigned by Foreman. • Available to assist with emergency restoration work on designated nights and weekends. Laborer Requirements • Ability to perform physical labor • Positive work attitude • Ability to communicate with all crew members. • Confined Space Training • First Aid and CPR Training • OSHA – 10 (Certificate must be completed within 90 days of employment) • Ability to work from a bucket at varying heights Working conditions The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to outside weather conditions. The employee is frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts. The employee is exposed to fumes or airborne particles, drilling materials, extreme cold, extreme heat, risk of electrical shock and vibration. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to loud. Physical requirements The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly required to sit; use hands to handle or feel and talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to reach with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to stand; walk and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
