Curious about being a firefighter? Join us to experience many aspects of the job in a controlled, low-pressure setting, taught by women in the fire service. This class is designed for young women, ages 12 and older, to explore the non-traditional career of firefighting. This intense, physically active class will be held rain or shine and is designed to get you out of your comfort zone and build confidence! • Learn what firefighters do every day! • Explore the challenges of the profession • Wear firefighting gear • Utilize firefighting tools • Advance hoselines • Perform search and rescue operations • Climb ladders FAQs Are there minimum age requirements to attend the event? The minimum age for participants is 12. What can I bring to the event? Wear comfortable, loose fitting clothes. You will be doing physically demanding activities during the session and should be able to pull hair back if needed. Water and lunch will be provided for all participants. You may wish to bring an additional water bottle and towel as it may be very hot. How can I contact the organizer with any questions? Can You Take the Heat is committed to providing a safe learning environment for all participants and staff. The committee will be following recommended CDC guidelines to ensure all students and staff have a safe, positive experience during this event.
