Description

Location: Bellingham, WA Age: Unknown (1 year - 2 years) Gender: Male, Neutered Weight: 55lbs Breed: Lab/ German Shorthaired Pointer What Tracker needs: A home with a yard away from a busy environment. Preferably an only dog unless it is young and he is able to have an EXTREMELY slow introduction. He also would do best without young children as he is basically a grown puppy, but ages 15 and up would be fine. About Tracker: The three things that make Tracker’s world go around are attention, food, and play!! GSP dogs are often called “Velcro Dogs” and this is 100% the case for Tracker. He loves people and to be with them. He will follow you everywhere (even if that means into the shower) because he is so loving. He loves to cuddle and will spoon you every night given the chance. He is motivated by food and also toys. He is extremely high energy and loves to play fetch as well as tug of war. Tracker is the fastest dog you will ever meet and will it will bring a smile to your face seeing how much he loves to run. Sadly I am looking to rehome a dog I rescued only 3 months ago. I am looking to rehome him as he is not fit to live smack dab in the middle of a busy city. Originally I had planned to keep him in my household forever, but as time goes on it is clear I am a foster home. Unfortunately the shelter I rescued him from lied about what he needed. When I first took home Tracker he was extremely dog and people aggressive. It was clear to me that he had previously been abused. He was completely untrained and wild, but over the past few months I have worked extremely hard to get him in a place where he can enjoy everyday life. In the beginning he would try to attack every single dog and people before he knew them and walking him was almost impossible. I dropped out of college in order to train him full time and have hired a private trainer. Private training sessions along with obedience class around other dogs has allowed him to go on daily walks and take instruction. Even though things are improving every single day as Tracker is the smartest dog I’ve had the pleasure of working with, I’ve noticed that where I live is causing problems for him. The rescue shelter told me he would do fine in an apartment and he actually does, but the problem is that I live right in the middle of downtown Bellingham a very busy city. Although he is no longer lunging and trying to attack other dogs, he is still somewhat bothered by their presence and will be too anxious to go to the bathroom some days. Even though I love him more than anything, he deserves to feel comfortable and confident outside. Being in a city sadly ensures that there will be triggers every time we go outside. For this reason I believe he needs a yard that can be his in combination with daily walks (exercise and stimulation as well as the opportunity to use the bathroom in peace). He is trained and knows how to sit, lay down, go to bed, heel, watch me, spin, take a bow, give paws, weave in and out of legs, and many more things. Something that still needs improving his his mouthiness when he is playful or excited. This problem will work itself out with consistency and time but is something to be aware of. I am asking a higher rehoming fee but am willing to negotiate with the right people. please message me for more info but it will be higher as I have already paid and done the work of a 2 month long extensive training course (as well as private sessions). He is fully vaccinated and was given a clean bill of health by the vet 3 months ago I have papers proving everything. I also paid to get him chipped. He will also come with come toys, a new Tempur-pedic bed, a used crate, halti, harness, martingale collar as well as a regular one, leftover food, muzzle (he will need a muzzle when getting nails trimmed or groomed) and anything else I decide he needs at the time. Another side note that can be kind of alarming or weird at first (you will grow to love it) is the fact that he can be vocal when playing. For example he will chase his tail for long periods of time while growling at it, but he is not mad or upset it is the contrary actually.
