STOUGHTON, MA — A 93-year-old woman died in a house fire in Stoughton Saturday morning, according to fire officials. The fire started around 3:45 a.m., on the second floor of 69 Grove St. Firefighter struck three-alarms as the flames spread throughout the home. Fire officials said they searched the home for residents and found the woman unconscious in her bed on the second floor. Firefighters rushed her out of the burning building and performed CPR before taking her to Good Samaritan Hospital in Brockton, where she was pronounced dead. Fire officials have not identified the woman and said she likely died from smoke inhalation. The home's other six residents weren't injured in the fire, but are displaced because of fire, smoke and water damage to the home. Fire officials said the American Red Cross will assist the residents in finding temporary housing. The fire took crews several hours to put out. Avon, Brockton, Canton, Easton, Sharon, Walpole and Medfield firefighters helped battle the flames, while Randolph and Holbrook firefighters covered the station. Fire officials have yet to confirm the cause of the fire. This is a developing story. Check back for updates.
