Gentlemanly affectionate cat

Description

Etienne is estimated to be between 5 and 7 years old, but he still acts like a big playful kitten. He befriended a cat rescue group volunteer as a skinny unfixed stray and turned out to be extremely friendly. Etienne is outgoing, well-mannered, and affectionate with anyone he meets. Etienne will do best in an active household that can give him plenty of stimulation. He is not a highly energetic cat, but it comes in bursts. He loves chasing feathery wands or a laser dot on the ground as though he were chasing his prey (he does not chase them in the air). When he's tuckered out and gets comfortable with you, he will climb on your lap for a nap or lay next to you. He isn't much of a climber but likes to lounge on cat trees next to the windows or sit on window sills to gaze outside. If given the opportunity, he may have a desire to go out, so adopters must remain vigilant. Access to a catio or secure outdoor space (cat-proof fencing) is recommended for his enrichment. Failing that, a house with an enclosed mudroom or entryway would provide a secure environment. Etienne tested positive for FIV (the Feline Immunodeficiency Virus) and he is a healthy boy. FIV+ cats can live as long as any other cats, with regular vet care as indoor-only cats. The virus can't be passed to dogs or people, only to other cats through a deep bite wound. Etienne spent some time at our cat care facility with other very shy cats and they are calm around his presence. He has a laid back, gentle nature. A home with a shy, docile cat would be preferred so he does not feel anxious. Etienne is neutered, tested negative for FeLV, microchipped, and vaccinated. To meet Etienne in his foster home, submit an adoption application for consideration at CatRescues.org/Adopt. A volunteer will contact you within 2-3 days for a possible meet and greet. The $70 adoption fee allows us to continue to provide care and find loving homes for abandoned and neglected cats in our Eugene/Springfield community.
