Job Title: Deconstruction Crew Member Pay Rate: $18.00/hour Good Wood Deconstruction and Salvage is hiring a deconstructionist to start immediately! If you love working with amazing old growth lumber and want to save a piece of Portland’s history, apply today! Job Summary: Good Wood performs full residential deconstruction throughout the city of Portland. We dismantle, by hand, 100+ year old homes for the purpose of salvaging the old growth lumber. All the material we salvage goes to our store for sale. Deconstructionist is a hands on position where you are responsible for helping on the entire deconstruction of the house. This person works alongside the crew through the process, safely and efficiently. This includes various tasks including wood salvage, clearing debris, and controlled demolition. 
This position is ideal for someone who enjoys good, honest work, values sustainability, appreciates saving old lumber, strategizes to effectively get a job done, has a positive attitude and is a clear, direct communicator. Primary Responsibilities include: Work alongside crew through a variety of deconstruction tasks (ie: roof tear off, clearing debris, wall disassembly, remove t&g flooring, etc..) Ensure all material is salvaged or handled correctly Maintain safety protocols and good job site communication Teamwork: Contribute to a positive atmosphere for the crew Demonstrate enthusiasm and motivational energy for the work Clear, direct communication Safety: Follow all safety rules and regulations (OSHA) Directly contribute to a safe work environment at all times Expectations: Experience in construction related tasks and tools Motivated by the challenge of the work • Reliable and enthusiastic • Embrace Good Wood’s values of sustainability, hard work, fun, compassion and respect. Minimum Qualifications/Requirements: Lift, push, pull and carry up to 75 lbs. safely throughout the workday, Conduct repetitive movements including stacking, lifting, bending, swinging sledgehammer, and other related physical tasks. Work outside in all types of weather. Has background working with a crew and general construction activities Good interpersonal communication Hours: This is a full-time (36 hrs/wk position) positive. 4 day work week between the hours of 8AM- 5PM.
