Description
Six-year-old Roscoe (a neutered male mixed breed dog, ~60 pounds) is in need of a new loving home.
Roscoe has been with us since he was a puppy, and we love him very much. We are sad to let him go, but feel it is in his best interest (and that of the rest of our pets) for him to find a placement that better suits his needs and temperament.
Roscoe can be wary of new people, but once he knows you, he's a love bug. He loves being petted and can be goofy and entertaining.
Roscoe would do best as the only pet in the house, either in a family without children, or with only older children who are dog-savvy. We've raised him these past 6 years in a household that includes two other dogs and two children and we feel that it's been too much stress for a dog who seems to be prone to anxiety.
While he has never bitten a person, he has recently attacked our small dog twice, which is what has led to this difficult decision. To be fair to Roscoe, the conditions that led to these two incidents were created by a child with special needs (the conditions could have been prevented, and we tried to prevent them for a long time, but the child's neurology made it impossible).
We will only consider placement with a person (or persons) who understand what it means to live with an anxious dog, and who understand (or want to learn) how best to help such a dog live as full a life as possible. If you're interested in meeting Roscoe and talking more in person, please reach out. Thank you.
