Looking for an Independent Contractor to fill the role of Project Installation Team Lead for Boulder Landscape Business. Seeking a good cultural fit for our team. We are looking for you to come help be our independent “Landscape Lead’ to manage projects and team. We have labor help and you are welcome to suggest using your own, as needed. ABOUT US — COME WORK WITH US Hello! We are a small successful landscape business on the front range with many new and established clients. We have more work than we can handle, including projects of all sizes and scope (from small to medium to high end). Want to bring your expertise to our client projects? WHO YOU ARE + WHAT YOU’LL DO WITH US THIS SEASON Focus on your craft and take the load off of client relations. We’ll do the design and client relations and you can work outdoors, focus on your craft, the team, and collaborate with us to create beautiful functional installations. We have a small team of various skilled or unskilled labor. You can suggest your own if you have an assistant or skilled labor you can draw on for certain projects. You will communicate and work seamlessly with our owner/designer to help with materials and labor cost estimates and decide on best installation methods for various designs or projects as needed. Once the design and general requirements for each project are discussed, you will take projects to completion independently. We will also rely on your experienced suggestions for logistical installation to arrive at desired end goal. We generally work on a per-project basis. As an independent contractor, you will record your own project hours and costs as agreed, and submit an invoice monthly, be responsible for your own health, taxes, and insurance. Be prepared to allow your schedule to be very fluid and flexible to complete various project requirements on a shifting timeline (around weather, client availability, team schedule, material availability. Since you’ve worked in this industry, you know how this goes. We like to help take clients one step further into the organic and permaculture solution world. We do this through our philosophy, methods, using organic materials, and offering natural solutions. Do you share this philosophy and have experience that might come in handy to share? Great! Which general or skilled labor do you have? — General Labor (moving materials, edging, cobble, mulch, shrub/flower plantings, decorative rocks, clean up) — Stonework (natural stone patios, walkways, retaining walls, flagstone) — Woodwork (fencing, decking, pergolas, custom builds) — Plantings (trees, or shrubs, flowers, ground cover, garden experience) — Outdoor Lighting (install transformer and wiring, change bulbs, etc) — Irrigation (drip irrigation install or maintenance, lawn sprinkler install or maintenance, french drain, swales) — Sod (types of grass for differing microclimates, installation, removal, over-seeding) — Machines (Bobcat, Forklift, Trencher, Sod cutter, etc) for planting trees, setting boulders, or moving earth etc CHECK UP ON YOUR MANAGEMENT SKILLS • Do you have successful experience managing landscape projects from start to finish? • Do you work well independently? And with a team? • Do you take direction well yourself? • Do you design on your own and/or do you interpret design well? • Do you manage easily-- directing and working alongside a small team of equals, having fun and doing good efficient physical labor outdoors day in day out? • Do you know your materials and sources well? Do you know alternatives, choices, and workarounds as needed? • Do you give accurate cost estimates? Do you know materials and delivery costs, time, and labor estimates? Do you stay on schedule and budget? • Do you naturally have a positive progressive attitude? • Do you listen to and respect others? Do others listen to and respect you? • Do you find you are able to easily resolve differing perspectives? • We request that you must be insured independently. General liability or trade specific. General Work Requirements: • positive attitude + mindful / thoughtful approach to doing what you do (must love what you do so you bring that vibe) • communicate seamlessly and effectively (via phone, text, and email) • manage cost estimates and receipts per project, and submit a monthly invoice • interpret landscape designs (some CAD, some conceptual design, some via verbal direction) • schedule and lead independent team labor on site • install landscapes with a mind for what will work best with terrain and logistics • be flexible and available as needed • have your own truck/trailer/tools • keep yourself healthy to feel good and perform well • enjoy what you do, work hard, play hard
