Description
Got moderately good at drumming, tricked out my kit, and then had to put it all away when 2020 hit. Ready to unpack it all, shake off the dust, and rock out with humans in person. Open to a one-time, occasional, or ongoing thing. I love 60s rock, 70s MOR, soul, R&B, alt country, IDM, progressive hip-hop, trip-hop, chill-hop, pop-hop, hop-on-pop, breakbeat, bubblecore, windup, postrock, preroll, mathfunk, discotecheño, ambien polka, bop 'n' stop, trout & bass, jimjam. Laid back, pocket, groove. Stax, Atlantic, FAME, Swampers, Wrecking Crew, Funk Bros. Blaine, Kunkel, Hawkins, Keltner, Ringo, Bruford, Questlove, DJ Roomba. Not really looking to drum for metal, punk, thrash right now, or anything so loud that I gotta wear tarmac muffs to survive. Can play to click or lock eyes with the bassist. Odd time signatures, tempo changes, dynamics, charts, quintuplets, brushes, rutes, not a problem. I can keep a beat, intuit when and when not to fill on the toms, and know when more cowbell is too much cowbell. I own both a decent acoustic kit and a mesh-head electronic one, and am more than happy to show up and play on your backline. Can switch over to any other instrument in your band and hold my own if someone else wants their turn on the throne. Reliable transportation and a backup pickup; I thrive on time, so I arrive on time. Over thirty, stable income, home studio, free time, clean socks. Not interested in being famous, touring, boinking groupies, or cultivating a "look." Located in the NELA/Glendale area and would generally prefer things on this side of the city. Covid-careful, vax'd, can drum with a mask on. You? Maybe players that get together on evenings and weekends. You are easygoing and have a sense of humor. Maybe one of you used to play the drums but wants to be a guitarist now and will make helpful suggestions. HEY! You'll save us both some time and effort if your initial email tells me what kind of music you want to play and where in the city you're located (a zipcode will suffice). I've gotten a couple responses to this ad that have been just a phone number and the demand "call me" and, well, that just ainta gonna happen. Also, if you ask questions that I've already answered in the text I'll assume you couldn't be bothered to read the whole thing and will apply a corresponding amount of care in crafting my reply. Seriously: someone wrote the morning after I posted the ad and went "You still looking to jam? What kinda music are you into?" So yeah. Let's hit this. Rum-pa-pum-pum.
